Valhalla is a championship-level golf course and it has hosted some of the most prestigious tournaments in recent years, including the 1996 and 2000 PGA Championships, both won by Tiger Woods—the only person to win back-to-back PGA Championships in over twenty years. The course also hosted the 2004 Ryder Cup and the 2008 Ryder Cup, in which the US team only narrowly won. The course is characterized by its rolling terrain, with wide fairways and generous greens. The course has some of the best bunkering in the state, with strategic use of well-placed bunkers and deep, protected greenside bunkers. There are also water hazards on a number of the holes, requiring accurate shot placement. The course is also known for its impeccable service and hospitality. From the moment you arrive at the clubhouse to the moment you depart, the staff will do everything they can to help make your otherwise frustrating game more enjoyable.
