Shively, Kentucky - A Thriving Louisville Suburb

Shively was officially incorporated in 1939, yet it has long been part of the Louisville area. Sarah Logan, an early settler, once called the area “the Plains of Shively” as early as 1790. This name eventually became the official name of the city. During the 20th century, the population of Shively increased at a rapid rate, from around 500 in 1940 to over 6,600 in 2000.
